My favorite things

Hello again friends,

I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite things in my foster mom's house.

Dolly, you say, it's nothing but a box!  No friends, it is a special box.
It's a box filled with  TOYS!!!!
Toys, toys, how I love toys!
There are so many things you can do with them!

You can store them in your crate for safe keeping...
(Foster mom calls me a hoarder, but I don't know what that means)

You can practice your play bows with them...

You can even play catch with yourself!

And whoever said greyhounds don't sit???

And of course, when you're done playing, you can snuggle together for a nap.

Puppy kisses and tail wags,
Dolly

Working hard in my retirement

I'm still working hard, even though I'm retired.  Every morning, foster brother Gabe and I guard the door of the bathroom and watch over foster mom while she's getting ready for work.   It's a tough job, but I'm up for the task!

Bathing Beauty

Hello again friends,

A few weekends ago, my foster mom took me and a few of my foster siblings to the Scottish Games!  It was a lot of fun; there were men in kilts, all kinds of food to beg for, and this crazy music coming from strange contraptions called bagpipes.  My friends at GEGR set up a booth for us, to let all the folks that attended learn how wonderful it is to adopt a greyhound like me.

Lots and lots of people came by to see us - it was wonderful.  I'm all about the pettings, and I got PLENTY!

The only rough part was that it was very HOT that day.  A sunny, hot, humid day can be awfully rough on a little black dog.  Fortunately, one of the GEGR volunteers brought a pool and they filled it up with cool water.  I climbed right in without hesitating and had a good long soak.  It was very refreshing!

I can hardly wait to see what my next adventure will be!  Have to check with foster mom to see what's up next on my social calendar.  Who knows, maybe it's meeting YOU! But we'll never know unless you fill in that online application!

Love and happy tail wags,

Dolly

All about beds

Hello friends,

Sorry I haven't posted before now.  My foster mom has been traveling with us a lot helping to look for Sookie, so between all my travels and learning about retirement, I haven't had much time to post.  I promise I'll do better from now on.

I arrived from Birmingham, AL on August 25th.  It was a long trip!  Then I went to a house and got a full grooming - bath, pawdicure, microchipped, the works!  Then I took another trip in a van and met my foster mom, who drove me to her house.  I live here with 3 other greyhounds and something called a miniature schnauzer.  I'm still trying to figure him out - he kind of smells like me, but he doesn't ACT like a greyhound at all.

So, I've been working on learning all about retirement.  One of the first things I had to figure out was dog beds.  I'd never seen one of those, and I didn't really get what I was supposed to do with it.  The carpet was familiar; that's what they kept in my crate at the track, so for the first week, I slept on the carpet.  But, all the other dogs seemed to really like the beds, so I decided to give them a try.

This was my first attempt:

I decided to ease into this bed thing.  Don't want to commit too soon!

Second attempt:

This is me with my foster brother Gabe.  Foster mom said I was living dangerously!

Getting closer...

Actually, lots of greyhounds sleep this way.  There's a lot of head hangers among us!

GOT IT!

Slight head hang, with total body support!  Oh wow, beds are wonderful!

So, now on my wish list:  a forever home with soft, comfy beds for me to rest upon!

I'm having lots of other experiences and learning lots of new things in my foster home.  I hope you'll check back in soon to see how I'm progressing.  And, if you think we might be a good match, go ahead and fill in that online application!

Until then,

Dolly
